Community Champions: Porterville’s Nonprofits – American Association of University Women (AAUW)

The Porterville American Association of University Women - AAUW is a local organization that is affiliated with State and National Branches. AAUW national is celebrating its 143-year anniversary; our local branch is celebrating 94 years of providing services and events to the Porterville community and surrounding areas. The first President in Porterville was Nell Pratt 1930-32 and the current President is Maria Roman.

Our branch is part of AAUW’s broader purpose: improving the lives of women and girls, in the workplace, home, and school.

We also enjoy the camaraderie and friendship gained from our interest groups and being part of the larger AAUW community.

What we do:

  • For fifty-five years, sponsor an endowed scholarship at Porterville College
  • For twenty-six years, sponsor 7th grade girls to attend a one-week TECH TREK/STEM summer camp at CSU Fresno
  • Participate in state and national programs already set but customized to local needs
  • Monthly “Get Togethers” with speaker presentation of interest
  • Conduct and sponsor local fundraisers and events
  • And much more

Join us and apply now; we would enjoy having you onboard. Visit our website at https://porterville-ca.aauw.net or call/text us at (559) 920-3637 or email: aauw.portervillebranch@gmail.com
